K-Ville Tenting Policy 2009 - 2010 (NEW)
Walk Up Games
-Small Groups of up to 6 people may register with LM upon half of group arriving
- Groups of 30+ people may email HLM to be considered a Large Group up until 8 hours before tipoff
- Large Groups may register with LM upon half of group arriving, and will be given a grill by OSAF
-All groups must have half of group present in Kville at all times
-All groups must have all members present and registered 2 hours before tipoff
-LMs will let in groups starting 1.5 hours before tipoff
-All students entering Cameron must be wearing a wristband and carrying their Duke Card
-Large bags and backpacks will not be allowed in Cameron

Black Tenting -NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART
-Begins on the night of January 23 at 2:30AM (between Saturday and Sunday) and lasts until January 30 at 8AM, when Blue Tenting begins
-All tent groups must have 12/12 members present in K-ville during each night
-All tent groups must have 2/12 members present in K-ville during each day
-2 missed tent checks will result in the group being dropped from black tenting
-No actual tents are permitted, however, overhead tarps are permitted
- Normal grace rules do not apply. No grace will be called with the exception of Duke Men’s Basketball games
-All groups that successfully complete Black Tenting will initially be placed ahead of
all groups that do not participate in Black Tenting
-The ordering of the groups that successfully complete Black Tenting will be determined by the events of Kickoff Day
Blue Tenting
- Begins on January 30 after the Kickoff Party and lasts until February 22 at 9PM, when White Tenting begins
-The ordering of the groups will be determined by the events of Kickoff Day
-All tent groups must have 1/12 people present in Kville during each day
-All tent groups must have 6/12 people present in Kville during each night
-Only 60 Blue Tent groups are available, after group 60 a wait list will be created
-Blue Tenting ends when White Tenting begins. All Blue Tent groups retain their spots as White Tent groups and all missed checks will be erased
-All tent groups may have two tents
White Tenting
-Begins on February 22 at 9PM and lasts until the Duke vs. UNC game
-Tent groups will be put in order by first-come/first-serve at a secret, on-campus location which will be posted online at 9PM
-Only 40 White Tent groups are available, after group 100 a wait list will be created
-All tent groups must have 1/12 people present in Kville during each day
-All tent groups must have 2/12 people present in Kville during each night
-All tent groups may have one tent
Rules that Apply to all Tenting
-All students must carry their Duke Cards at all times to verify identity
-Nighttime hours are:
Sunday-Wednesday: 11PM-7AM
Thursday: 12AM-7AM
Friday-Saturday: 2:30AM-10AM
-Automatic grace will be called for less than 25 degrees or 2 inches of accumulated snow
-After each tent check, all tents groups will have 1 hour of grace
-Upon a second missed check, the tent group will be bumped to end of wait list
-All tent group roster changes must be submitted to the Head Line Monitor at headlinemonitor@gmail.com by 1PM to be valid for that night. Rosters must be submitted using the appropriate format, which can be found at http://www.kville.info/tent-roster-documents-new/
-Personal checks will take place from 9PM - 8AM on March 4 and March 5
-Each tenter must successfully pass 3/5 checks during personal checks
-No items in a tent may be plugged into an outlet
January 30 Kickoff Day
Festivities on this day will consist of competitions for tent order of Black and Blue tents, a party and much more.
-Groups for both Black Tenting and Blue Tenting will be permitted to set up their tents starting at 9AM
-Following the Duke vs. Georgetown away basketball game, the tent group ordering will begin
-The ordering of tent groups will be based on each group’s performance in three events. Groups will be awarded points during each event, and will be put in tent order based on total number of points earned after the final event
a) Dash to the Secret Spot- identical to the method for ordering the tent groups for White Tenting. An on-campus location will be posted online at 4PM. Groups will be awarded points based on how quickly their first member arrives at the secret spot.
b) Duke Basketball Trivia- each group will answer questions about Duke Basketball. The trivia will range from questions about our current players to questions about the history of Duke Basketball. Groups will be awarded points based on how many questions they answer correctly. Cell phones and computers are strictly prohibited. Location: TBD.
c) Diggin Dirt- each group will submit 10 facts of “dirt” on players and teams that Duke will play in Cameron during the remainder of the year. Groups will be awarded points based on how funny, interesting, novel, and useful the team finds their dirt. Judges: TBD. Groups must submit their 10 facts via email by 11:59PM on January 29 to headlinemonitor@gmail.com
-All students will be invited at night into Wilson Gym for the Kickoff Party. The order of the tents will be announced, prizes will be given away, and guests from the Duke Basketball team will be present. Time TBD.
